Welcome to Broken Candle Book Designs. By purchasing design services from Broken Candle Book Designs, you agree to the following terms and conditions. These terms are intended to protect both the client and the designer and to ensure a clear, professional working relationship throughout the design process.

1. Services

Broken Candle Book Designs offers professional book cover design and related author branding services, including but not limited to:

  • Custom ebook covers

  • Paperback and hardcover wraps

  • Premade book covers

  • Audiobook covers

  • Social media graphics

  • Logos and promotional materials

  • Amazon A+ content and related branding graphics

All services are subject to availability and may be updated or modified at any time.

2. Quotes & Pricing

All prices listed on this website are starting rates and may vary depending on project complexity, stock licensing requirements, turnaround time, and additional requested services.

A final quote will be provided before work begins. Quotes are valid for 30 days unless otherwise stated.

3. Payment

A non-refundable deposit of 50% is required before work begins on all custom design projects unless otherwise agreed upon in writing. The remaining balance must be paid in full before final high-resolution files are delivered.

Premade covers must be paid in full at the time of purchase in order to reserve the design.

Broken Candle Book Designs reserves the right to pause or cancel work if payment is not received as agreed.

4. Revisions

All custom cover packages include a limited number of revision rounds as outlined in the service description or quote. Additional revisions beyond those included may incur an extra fee.

Revisions do not include complete redesigns, major concept changes after approval, or requests that substantially alter the original scope of the project.

5. Turnaround Times

Estimated turnaround times vary by project type, complexity, and current workload. A general timeframe will be discussed before work begins, but exact delivery dates are not guaranteed unless specifically agreed upon in writing.

Delays caused by late client responses, missing project materials, or significant scope changes may affect turnaround time.

6. Client Responsibilities

Clients are responsible for providing all necessary project information in a timely manner, including but not limited to:

  • Book title and author name

  • Genre and target audience

  • Blurb or project summary

  • Trim size and page count for print wraps

  • Any required publisher specifications

  • Clear direction, inspiration, or requested design elements

Broken Candle Book Designs is not responsible for delays caused by missing information or inaccurate files supplied by the client.

7. Stock Images, Fonts & Licensing

Designs may include licensed stock images, textures, brushes, and fonts. Any stock or licensed assets used in a design remain subject to the terms of their original license.

Clients are purchasing the final cover design and the right to use it for their book and related promotion, but not ownership of individual stock assets, fonts, or raw design components unless otherwise stated.

If a project requires premium stock assets or special licensing, the cost may be included in the quote or billed separately.

8. Copyright & Ownership

Custom Covers

The final cover design remains the intellectual property of Broken Candle Book Designs until full payment has been received. Once the final invoice is paid, the client is granted the right to use the approved final design for their book and related promotional materials.

Premade Covers

Premade covers are sold once and retired after purchase. Once paid in full, the client receives the right to use the final customized design for their book and associated promotion.

Portfolio Use

Broken Candle Book Designs retains the right to display completed designs, including custom and premade covers, in its portfolio, website, social media, and promotional materials unless otherwise agreed in writing.

9. Source Files

Unless specifically included in the quote, editable source files (such as PSD files) are not included with the purchase of a cover design. Source files may be made available for an additional fee at the discretion of Broken Candle Book Designs.

10. Refunds & Cancellations

Deposits and payments made toward custom work are non-refundable once work has begun.

If a client cancels a project after work has started, any payments already made will be retained to cover time spent, concept development, stock purchases, and work completed up to that point.

Broken Candle Book Designs reserves the right to cancel a project at any time due to abusive behavior, lack of communication, non-payment, or any other reason that makes the working relationship untenable. In such cases, any refund issued will be at the sole discretion of Broken Candle Book Designs.

11. Premade Cover Policy

Premade covers are sold on a first-paid basis and are not considered reserved until payment has been received.

Minor text customization is included with premade cover purchases unless otherwise stated. Significant design alterations, compositing changes, or layout revisions may require an additional fee or may not be available depending on the design.

12. Approval & Final Files

It is the client’s responsibility to carefully review all proofs before approving the final design. This includes checking:

  • Title and author name spelling

  • Taglines and subtitles

  • Back cover text

  • Formatting details and dimensions

Once final approval is given and files are delivered, Broken Candle Book Designs is not responsible for errors that were present in approved materials.

13. Limitation of Liability

Broken Candle Book Designs will not be held liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from the use of any design, website content, or delivered files. It is the client’s responsibility to ensure their chosen publishing platform accepts the final files and specifications.

14. Right to Refuse Service

Broken Candle Book Designs reserves the right to refuse service for any reason, including but not limited to projects involving plagiarism, hateful or discriminatory content, abusive communication, or subject matter the designer does not wish to work on.
